So I have been talking a great deal about activism lately in church, in making our voices heard by the powers of the land. And that is a very important thing to do.
But perhaps equally important is the call for us to aid in our local community. There is certainly plenty of need! Weymont Food Pantry is always in need of both donations and volunteers. Local battered women’s shelters are struggling to get off the ground and are in need, and warming shelters in the area can always use a hand.
There are many ways to get involved locally, and if you’re interested, a great place to start would be to contact Lucie Erickson or myself and talk about getting involved in the various mission and Evangelism opportunities our church is involved in.
There is always room for more help, especially in a world that seems to need it more and more each day. So let’s get involved… and help.
After all, Valentines day is coming up… it’s always good to spread the love!
